Super-resolution Microscope - 08.09.2011
We proudly announce that we have installed our new super-resolution microscope
Zeiss Elyra PS. It makes it possible to bridge the gap between fluorescence and electron microscopy. Two techniques will be available: 3D-Structured Illumination (3D-SIM) and fluorescence localisation microscopy (PAL-M or dSTORM).
While 3D-SIM improves the lateral and vertical resolution of a fluorescence microscope with a factor of appr. 2, localisation microscopy can achieve up to ten fold improvement in both axes. The Zeiss Elyra PS system also allows to do TIRF microscopy, which improves the resolution in the Z-axis.
